Space Heating
FREEZING PROTECTION IS VIA SPACE HEATING. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT GUESTS DO NOT CHANGE THERMOSTAT SETTINGS.
Alta Vista has a remotely adjustable thermostat-regulated gas-fueled central space heating system. The round "NEST" thermostat is located on the wall in the main level near the door to the Queen bedroom. It is pre-programmed and should not be adjusted by renters, except for regulating "momentary" temperatures up or down. These changes will automatically be overridden and re-set when the current time period ends. ECO setting keeps the house safely warm enough to prevent freezing.
The thermostat has the following programmed settings (please do not alter these settings):
— 4PM --> 11PM: 68 degrees
— 11PM --> 6AM: 62 degrees
— 6AM --> 9AM: 68 degrees
— 9AM --> 4PM: 65 degrees
Should you find the house cold on arrival, it may be that the thermostat is still in the "ECO" mode (Green Leaf symbol).
To set it to the "Heat" mode, simply:
— (gently !!) press on the center
— turn the outer ring to bring the "Green Leaf" symbol up
— press on the center
— turn the outer ring to highlight "Heat"
— press on the center to set.
To set the thermostat to the "ECO" mode when you depart:
— press on the center
— turn the outer ring to bring the "Heat" symbol (waves) up
— press on the center
— turn the outer ring to highlight the "Green Leaf" symbol
— press on the center to set
In winter, we use the gas FIREPLACES FOR BACK-UP FREEZING PROTE4CTION -- we never turn the water off and apply antifreeze and alike to prevent pipes and toilets from bursting, as other homeowners in "cold country" often do. Both fireplaces are controlled from thermostats that are set to 45 degrees and must not be changed. One of these thermostats is located in the main stair well below the large panoramic photo, the other in the lower Master Bath. The fireplaces can be turned on and off for renters' comfort with a switch on the right side of the mantle, entirely independent of any thermostats.
IT IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE THAT THE PILOTS OF BOTH FIREPLACES REMAIN LIT AT ALL TIMES.
