Ski-in to the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort. Within about 30 minutes from the world class ski resorts of Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley), Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, and Royal Gorge (cross-country).

Floor plan of Alta Vista Chalet. The sauna, accessible through the garage, is underneath the entry. Deck railings are glass -- rimless at the top -- to maximize the breathtaking views. The lower level deck is at grade and has no railing. A second dryer is in the garage.

The Alta Vista Chalet is within a few minutes of superb Tahoe Donner recreation amenities:  Cross-Country Ski Center; Downhill Ski Resort; a golf course; a sledding hill; playgrounds; miles and miles of hiking & mountain biking trails; equestrian center; fine and casual dining at the Lodge. 

Optional: For a one-time nominal fee we can arrange that the The Tahoe Donner private recreation amenities become FREE of charge available to max. 4 guests (only available for rentals of more than 30 nights).

  • Alta Vista has a solar PV system that has, since installation on 8/24/2010, as of August/2026 generated 113,000kWh of electricity and, thus, offset ~68,000 lb of CO2 emissions (at 0.6 lb/kWh in California). The energy produced by this system would have “fueled” an EV for about 450,000 miles.

Terrific panoramic vistas from every room. Large wrap-around decks. Built in 1998 and significantly expanded in 2005.

4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The decks on two levels have glass railings for uninterrupted panoramic views. 3-car garage (two of which are available to renting guests for SUV-size vehicles).

Extra-large master-bedroom with CA-King bed; second master bedroom with a round "sultan" bed and indoor jacuzzi tub; one bedroom with Queen and one bedroom with two Twin beds.

Not suited for wheelchairs (3 levels, no elevator).

The Alta Vista Chalet is located at 7300 ft elevation, almost at the top of Skislope Way, which starts at Northwoods Blvd. and ends at Alder Creek Road. The majestic top-down views from Alta Vista over much of the Tahoe-Donner development and Truckee easterly into endless mountain ranges are entirely unobstructed by buildings or power lines.
