Bicycling

The Sea Ranch has a road and trail system west of Highway One that is ideal for casual bicycle riding from the north end to the south end. Bring your bikes -- you will love it. Ride to, and visit — free of charge — the Sea Ranch recreation centers. Ride to Sea Ranch Lodge for lunch. Look out for (complete !) special signage indicating when to leave the road and take a connecting trail. The interconnecting links on the oceanside of the Highway are level single-track — best bring your mountain bike. The northernmost point to reach by bike is the very northern cul-de-sac of Leeward Rd. Leave bikes there and walk to Gualala Point.

Mountain bikers will like the hillside trails (on thed east side of Hwy 1) -- some are quite challenging single-lane rides.

Bike riding is not permitted on the bluff trail and some other trails - please observe the signage. Some adjacent non-Sea Ranch logging trails were recently closed by their non-Sea Ranch owners.

Long-distance road bikers will like the Annapolis Road - Skaggs Springs Road stretch from the center of Sea Ranch to Healdsburg (about 40 miles with almost zero vehicular traffic, quite demanding with significant elevation difference.

Kayaking

The Gualala River mouth is great for kayaking. Bring your kayak, or rent one in Gualala. To launch, turn left immediately after the Gualala River bridge (going north) onto the unpaved path.

You might find bicycles and kayaks and various other equipment at Bella Vista and/or Casa Pacis. For liability reasons, these are not intended for use by our renting guests. Please bring your own equipment.

Sea Ranch Trails

Sea Ranch has a terrific trails system for hiking. Walk the Bluff trail all the way north to “Gualala Point” (about 3.5 miles from Casa Pacis, 2.5 miles from Bella Vista), or all the way south to the Ohlson Rec Center or 3 miles further south to the Sea Ranch Lodge. There are also excellent meadow trails and an entire trails system on the hillside, east of Hwy 1. The bluff trail is, over its entire length of about 9 miles, closed for bicycles.

Sea Ranch Rec Centers

The Sea Ranch is a resort with three major recreation centers that are open to owners and their guests free of charge.
-- Del Mar (at about Hwy 1 mile marker 57) (large “infinity” pool, lane swimming, 2 saunas, 2 tennis courts)
-- Ohlson (mile marker 53) (large pool, lane swimming, 3 saunas, 1 tennis court and 1 tennis/pickle ball court
-- Moonraker (mile marker 51) (small pool, 1 double dedicated pickle-ball court).
See below for special sign-up requirements. Access is free to our guests, but each person arriving at a TSRA recreation facility must carry an "ID pass." We provide ID passes for free use by our renting guests.

The largest and most modern recreation center, “Del Mar,” has a large “infinity pool” and is just one mile north of Casa Pacis (located on the ocean side of the highway, so you can easily walk or bicycle there on Sea Ranch internal roads).

IMPORTANT ADVISORIES FOR USE OF SEA RANCH REC CENTERS
Ohlson and Del Mar require on-line reservations for lap swimming
in the mornings (it’s first-come, first-served after 1:00 PM).
— If you want to swim in the morning, you must make a reservation. You can do this up to 96 hours in advance. Click here for reservations. Time slots are for 45 minutes; please understand that your desired time slot may not be available unless you reserve well ahead of time. Reserve under your name, email, and phone. It is then OK to check in with our ID cards).
Each person arriving at a recreation facility must show a TSRA membership ID card (which we provide at the rental home).
Only online reservations are accepted for lap-swimming before 1:00 pm. The shallow pool sections are open all-day.
No lane sharing: One (1) lap swimmer per lane. Please adhere to this odd Sea Ranch custom. (You may, of course, share a lane with your friend/spouse, if you could not reserve a separate lane for each of you and arrive as a twosome, but may have some “explaining” to do to the guard).
